What is naturalisation by option?

According to VZ, this option concerns 18-year-olds born in Suriname to parents with a foreign nationality who wish to obtain Surinamese nationality (Article 5 WNI).

What do you need?

  • Correctly completed notification form
  • Birth certificate: according to the recovered PDF, only a Surinamese birth certificate is accepted
  • Passport; if you do not have a passport, according to the source another identification document may be used
  • CBB registration declaration, according to the old PDF not older than six months; if you are not registered, the source allows a registration declaration of your mother or father

What happens after submission?

According to the old VZ instructions, you will immediately see a registration confirmation on screen, receive an e-mail within 24 hours and be asked to respond to that confirmation e-mail within 48 hours. To be confirmed by VZ
